On the Road – Florida

We rolled on through Alabama and arrived in the Florida Panhandle on Sunday, December 6. We overnighted at Arrowhead Campground in Marianna, Florida. The temperatures were starting to warm, though it was still chilly.

Arrowhead Campground takes no reservations; it's a first-come, first-serve campground. It has a pool, laundry facilities, gas, and store. The sites aren't paved, but they have full hook-ups.

From there, we drove to St. Augustine on Monday, December 7. We told the Indian Forest Campground manager that we would be there before 6 p.m. We arrived at 5:45 p.m. We made reservations for this campground because we want to stay until January 7. It's a pet-friendly park, with a pond for fishing. There are several pull-through sites. None are paved, but have full hook-ups with 50 amp service. We definitely plan to stay here again.

We've had a great time visiting with Tracy and family. We've attended Courtney's Daisy Scout outings and especially enjoyed the troop's Christmas Caroling at the Augustine Retirement Community. Brittany and Courtney came out and spent a couple of nights with us in the RV.

We came here with the idea that we would get a screened canopy room and put up our 6 foot artificial Christmas tree. We purchased the canopy room, but it wasn't to our liking. So we scrapped the idea of a full-size Christmas tree and bought a 3 foot artificial tree which we decorated with our favorite ornaments. This tree took up residence on the dashboard and looks quite festive. Gray still likes to sleep "under" the tree on the tree skirt.
