Wal-Mart is not a campground!

On a recent trip through St. Augustine, we stopped at the Wal-Mart on Route 1. At 1:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday, at the end of the parking lot, parked parallel and taking several parking places, were two Class A motorhomes–one with the slide out. In the middle of the parking lot was a small travel trailer with pop-out bedroom. Not only was this trailer and tow vehicle taking two parking places, chairs occupied the parking space next to the RV. When we returned to the parking lot an hour later (2:30 in the afternoon), they even had their portable generator out and running. Pop-Up Camper, Friday, Feb 26, 2010, 1:30 PM

The managers of the Wal-Marts are allowing RVers to camp overnight as a gesture of goodwill and for an overnight respite for travelers. This does not mean that RVers can set up camp in their parking lot and overstay their welcome. Poor etiquette such as this only hurts all RVers.
