DSC00845On May 19, we left the Wilson driveway for Little River Casino Campground in Manistee, Michigan. Our 44th wedding anniversary was on May 20, so we thought, for an anniversary trip, it was time to finally try our luck at a casino.

The campground is absolutely beautiful with large concrete pads, full-hook ups, 50 amp service, and picnic table. The campground doesn't allow tents or fire rings/campfires. I know we will definitely go back there for an RV destination. The rates are reasonable, $27/weeknight and $28/weekend night. The resort has a shuttle (either a golf cart or a van) to take campers from the campground to the casino. From our site, it was a quick walk across the lawn to the hotel door and into the casino.

We had great luck gambling at the casino, leaving with $1501.00 in profit. This was our first time at a casino and we had great fun. We stayed at the campground from Wednesday through Sunday, and played slot machines each day. On Saturday, the casino had drawings for a $500 prize each hour between 1:00 and 6:00 p.m. At 7:00, they had a drawing that particular Saturday for a pop-up camper. Over the Memorial weekend, they were drawing for a pontoon boat.

They have a nice memorial for the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians serving in the military. Both sides of the memorial have names.  DSC00843

DSC00841The resort has a large hotel, with an indoor pool and hot tub, as well as a fitness center. Campers have access to the hotel amenities, as well as a shortcut through the hotel to the campground. There are restaurants of various price ranges. The casino has free popcorn and soft drinks and/or coffee. And there is a bar in the casino with large screen TV and table seating, as well as video poker at the bar.

On Sunday, May 23, we left Little River Casino Campground for River Ridge RV Resort in Stanwood, Michigan, near Big Rapids.
